Our Story So Far

JankariTech was established in 2017 with the vision to create software that matters and to develop staff to reach their full potential. Both founders – Artur Neumann and Phil Davis – had years earlier left their careers in corporate IT in their respective home countries Germany and Australia in order to work for an international NGO in Nepal and they have fallen in love with the people and the country. After many years of dedicated service it dawned on them that for sustainable development and true self-reliance, Nepal needs more than foreign aid: the creation of meaningful and well paid jobs through business would be critical for the future of this country.

That is why JankariTech’s aim has always been to provide dignified job opportunities to the people of Nepal’s midwest to work from their home region so that they can stay with their families. Recognizing that Nepal has similar, yet untapped potential as India when it comes to software development, mixed with the founders passion for open source software and high quality standards, led JankariTech to gain a foothold in the niche of test automation.

From humble beginnings in a tiny one room office in Nayagaun with just the founders, and office manager and a cleaner, JankariTech has grown over the years from start-up to a reputable sustainable software development company that is well known in the community. After the Covid lockdowns the company moved into bigger office facilities in Kundahar near Pokhara International Airport. Nowadays the team consists of more than a dozen local employees.

Since the start of the company, JankariTech has placed strong emphasis on teaching and training young Nepalis. Empowering staff to grow both their technical and leadership skills has always been an integral part of the company. In addition, JankariTech has continuously been offering traineeships and mentorships for students and young professionals, has been engaged in local developers meetups and tech conferences and is heavily committed to partner with local colleges and organisations to enhance IT education in this region.
